"The hunter is a part of the ecosystem like any other predator, but hunting regulations are needed to ensure that hunting does not deplete animal populations. During the 1800s many of the big game species of North America were hunted almost to extinction. The most known is the American Bison but also the Elk was hunted too extensively. Now, thanks to the wildlife conservation laws that B&C ushered, the Elk population is thriving."
